Background of the Study

Adopting Accounting Information Systems (AIS) can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial management in local governments. However, the process of adoption often faces several challenges, particularly among employees who may be resistant to change or lack the necessary technical skills. In Patigi Local Government Area, understanding the specific challenges faced by local government employees in adopting AIS is critical for ensuring successful implementation. This study will explore the barriers to AIS adoption in Patigi LGA.

Statement of the Problem

Local government employees in Patigi LGA face numerous challenges in adopting and utilizing AIS, which hampers the effectiveness of financial management processes. Despite the potential benefits of AIS, the adoption process has been slow due to factors such as lack of training, resistance to change, and inadequate infrastructure. This study aims to investigate these challenges and provide recommendations for overcoming them.

Aim and Objectives of the Study

Aim: To identify and evaluate the challenges faced by local government employees in adopting Accounting Information Systems in Patigi Local Government Area.
Objectives:

  1. To assess the level of AIS awareness and training among local government employees in Patigi LGA.

  2. To identify the key challenges preventing the adoption of AIS in the local government.

  3. To propose solutions for improving AIS adoption among local government employees.

Research Questions

  1. What are the main challenges faced by local government employees in adopting AIS in Patigi LGA?

  2. How does the lack of training impact the adoption of AIS in Patigi LGA?

  3. What strategies can be implemented to facilitate AIS adoption among local government employees?

Research Hypothesis

  1. H₀: There are no significant challenges in adopting AIS among local government employees in Patigi LGA.

  2. H₀: The lack of training does not significantly affect the adoption of AIS in Patigi LGA.

Significance of the Study

This study will provide valuable insights into the challenges of AIS adoption in local government settings, offering practical recommendations for overcoming these obstacles and ensuring successful implementation in Patigi LGA.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on local government employees in Patigi LGA and their experience with AIS adoption. Limitations may include limited access to AIS training data and the willingness of employees to share their experiences.
